St Francis Cabrini Window Replacement Case History

Check B4U Spec is for the architect and the construction specifier to have a greater understanding of the Kalwall Performance Specification. Please note that there are many links within the pages as well that may bring you to backup information.

We fully know and understand that Kalwall is a unique niche system in the entire realm of construction materials but Kalwall is NOT a proprietary material. The following specification is not proprietary. Everything that goes into the product is commercially available to all manufacturers. But, Kalwall the inventor and the leader is truly a Superior system and that is based upon the business decisions of Kalwall management to utilize materials with greater cost to achieve a greater sustained performance level throughout the life cycle of your building.

Check B4U Spec is under constant construction. Check back often

A Factual Discussion on the Kalwall Thermally Broken Panel Technology vs. the "tried and true?" poured and debridged thermoplastic thermal barrier used by other systems. Lets check it out! You're going to Kalwall for a moment but come on back!

Our competitors in Wisconsin are very good at providing, well, let's be nice and call it "Information" to Architects and General Contractors. This page is devoted to the "X" Files... The Truth is Out There! and now it is here! Please feel free to E Mail us any questions and we would be more than happy to post the question and answer, no names will be posted but if you ask the question someone else has the same question!

Q1- Some say that Kalwall is the only manufacturer that use a glass veil technology and Tedlar is the answer for protecting the FRP Sheet against surface erosion and fiberbloom.

A1 - A "small" company... Robertson's Resolite has been using the same technology since the late 70's as far as we can recall. Here's the website! Bottom of the page describes their C/W Barrier System

Q2 -What does Kalwall do to protect the facesheet fo the panel. Is Tedlar better or the Glass Erosion Barrier that Kalwall uses?

A2 - The Erosion Barrier totally encapsulates the base fibers of the panel which will not allow fibers to raise over the course of time due to erosion and aging of the surface of the sheet. Tedlar was removed from the marketplace by DuPont in the Spring of 2005 leaving competitors without any tested FRP exterior facesheet for color change or surface protection.

Q3 - How effective is the Glass Erosion Barrier system against color change in the panel?

A3 - Glass Erosion Barrier has absolutely nothing to do with the color change function of the facesheet. The weathering resins are within the full thickness of the facesheet.  Splitting an exterior facesheet of the panel in half and exposing it to the elements will have no adverse effects of color change to the sheet unlike film cladded FRP sheets whereas the underlying sheet is yellowing due to heat and UV.
