Clayton, though semi-retired, is active in NBS Partnership, the land and developing arm of Nielsen Building Systems and was instrumental in the development of the company's co-development of the Caledonia Business Park in Racine County. 	Our roots in the construction business date back to 1923 when a young Danish immigrant seeking the opportunities of America fulfilled his dream of owning his own business. Carl Henry Nielsen opened the " Henry Nielsen Blacksmith Shop". Carl fathered sons Clayton and Harry and daughter Hazel. When Carl died, Clayton left the Air Force to run the fledgling business. Harry, a veteran of the European theater followed after the war. The name was changed to Henry Nielsen Iron Works which better described the company's local efforts of welding and forming for the local economy. The first name, Henry was later dropped in the mid 60's as Nielsen Iron Works became one of Wisconsin's largest steel fabricators and erectors. Clayt's three sons, Bruce, Jim, Dale and their partner Tom Johnson split off the company in 83'. They developed the architectural - engineering - general and specialty construction business known today as...........
