Design Build Construction Design / Drafting & Project Mgt -
Salary Position.
Nielsen Building Systems is a Design Build company with staff architect and structural engineer.
We seek an individual that thrives on personal responsibility in a many faceted job from discussing, design and detailing initial plans for new, renovation and additions of facilities to the coordination of the project to presenting the owner the keys. Being a registered architect is not a requirement. We seek individuals with enthusiasm, a great work ethic and an understanding of the complete building process with respect to the many trades involved in new and renovation projects.
This architectural position primarily will work in the Design Build area of NBS working with our Varco Pruden Building System and conventional construction.
Familiarity with Pre-Engineered Building Systems and Components is advantageous as our firm blends conventional and pre-engineered components in the majority of our buildings.
- We run Auto Cad V2006, 2000 Architectural Desktop and earlier versions - proficiency in CAD is required.
- Assistance in preparation of Design Build Bid Packages
- Ability to analyze, field measure, detail and understand existing structures - building components and to translate the information for bid and final documents.
- involvement in project management and field coordination
- ability to do complete preliminary/bid drawings through completing a set of building drawings.
- we also bid work for other general contractors and architects therefore we also require installation drawings for our subcontractors
- you will also be involved in direct client/owner contact as well as working with subcontractors in early design through building completion. Presentation abilities is beneficial.
- Familiarity with the design-build process of costing while designing/detailing as opposed to conventional open bid projects
- you are well rounded in construction knowledge of commercial and industrial types of construction
- familiar with Wisconsin and IBC codes - some work is in Illinois is a plus.
- ability and desire to work on a deadline to complete clear and concise drawings for subcontractors and State approvals.
- can perform building layouts and minor surveying.
